MEDITRAIN's Scripting
Using Visual Basic In the Meditech Environment
presentation on Scripting describes the process of using software
to input data directly into a computer system through the regular
data entry screens.
For instance, Institutions
that are going through consolidations can use Scripting to move
data from the separate computer systems into one unified system.
Using Scripting, data can be read from a computer system,
manipulated and then re-entered with the changes. Recently one
institution used the Scripting process demonstrated in the CD
to move data from five separate Magic Office environments into
one consolidated MOX. It can also be used to make mass changes to
a system. For example, you could use it to make a mass change to a field for all users in the user dictionary of the MIS module.
The applications for scripting are endless.
MEDITRAIN'ss Scripting CD shows
you how to reference MEDITECHs Application
Program Interface, how to log onto MEDITECH, how
to get cursor positions, how to upload/download data and how to
handle errors generated by the MEDITECH input
screen. Best of all you do not have to be a Visual Basic
programming wizard. The CD shows you enough Visual Basic to
write the scripts you will need. A diskette with a sample Visual
Basic script, the script created in the presentation, is included
for your convenience. Everything you need to know to write a
script in a Windows Environment is here!
Even though there are many
tools on the market that allow MEDITECH
Hospitals to perform Scripting, MEDITRAIN
presents the most cost effective and efficient way to script. All
you need is this CD-ROM, a Personal Computer, Microsoft Visual
Basic and MEDITECH Remote Workstation. You will
then be able to outperform any Scripting tool available on the
market today for considerably less money.
